Community
Our community at St James are welcoming and active. We work in the local area alongs side residents to care for the wider community.
Introduction
St James is the oldest place of worship in Darwen and we are proud to still be here for the local community.
On a Sunday all ages are together in church. We look at the Bible together, worship God through song, and pray. On the first of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion on a Sunday. We celebrate Holy Communion at our Tuesday service in a quiet and reflective way. We serve a simple soup lunch afterwards.
On alternate Thursday evenings we have the wild and wonderful Minecraft church – a new form of church for those not familiar with church but who LOVE Minecraft (and for their long-suffering families too!)
They say a picture is worth a thousand words so please have enjoy seeing St James in action, worship and play.

Making a Difference
Living out our faith during the week is really important for us at St James. We run a food bank from Ash Grove shops on a Saturday morning and offer other activities like craft, exercise, gardening and bingo during the week at our Ash Grove centre.
We work closely with St James CE Primary Academy. During the school holidays we run 8 days for families with crafts, sports and eating food together.
We run a community fun day each year and many other events and happenings!
